The best brunch spots to visit in the Ancaster/Hamilton area

The holidays are approaching, so it’s a great time to start planning for some hearty brunch experiences - and there’s plenty to be had in my hometown of Hamilton. I personally live in the Ancaster area, but I’ve made it my mission to explore the whole city to explore the best restaurants.

So get ready to indulge in champagne pancakes, breakfast tacos, and perfect pastries at the incredible brunch spots scattered across Hamilton.

Ancaster Mill

Picture this: brunch with a view of a waterfall. Elevate your dining experience at this iconic fine-dining establishment located in a historic stone flour mill. Their renowned weekend brunch, celebrating an earth-to-table ethos, features seasonally inspired, chef-curated dishes that guarantee a menu as exceptional as the breathtaking views.

Martello

Infuse a modern Italian flair into your weekend brunch at this popular James Street North restaurant. Savor soppressata and mortadella eggs benny, breakfast pizza, and stuffed brioche. Don't miss out on their locally sourced baked goods, including ricotta cannoli, biscotti, and almond croissants.

Shy’s Place

Embark on a memorable brunch journey inside a historic Dundas home-turned-restaurant or outside on their year-round patio. Choose from delectable options such as eggs benny, traditional egg plates, gourmet sandwiches, and sweet treats like buttermilk chicken and toast with grape jelly, goat cheese, and maple syrup, or apple cinnamon French toast.

Eat Undefined

This isn't your average brunch. Order mimosas and dive into elevated dishes like avocado toast with smoked salmon, blueberry and ricotta pancakes, crispy pork belly eggs benny, and Tokyo-style hot chicken and waffles.

Saints James Espresso Bar & Eatery

Explore the menu at this downtown coffee shop and eatery, known for its "Drive-thru" breakfast sandwich and unbelievable short stack pancakes with rotating flavors like Cinnabon, lemon ricotta, or apple crumble. Their unique 'steam-punk' style coffee machines add to the charm.

The Aberdeen Tavern

A popular brunch destination in Kirkendall, this restaurant in a converted bank takes brunch seriously. Enjoy two-course options, including crab cakes and smoked salmon apps, and mouth-watering mains like Tostada Rancheros and cheesecake-stuffed French Toast. Check out their delivery menus too.

The Cannon

This friendly, sunny coffee shop, beloved by Crown Point neighbors and Hollywood directors alike, offers the "Canadian brunch plate" with the fluffiest waffles. Enjoy coffee, tea, pastries, and celebrity-endorsed breakfast sandwiches.

The Mule

For a Mexican-style breakfast, head to this long-serving downtown favorite. Indulge in unbelievable tacos, Huevos Rancheros, and breakfast Bravas with a side of Caesars or bottomless Mimosas.

Caro

Add an Italian twist to your morning with Caro's unique brunch classics like Cannoli Waffles and Porchetta Benny. Visit one of their two popular locations on James Street North or Ottawa Street.

Motel Restaurant

Capture Instagram-worthy moments at this east-end brunch spot with pink walls and neon signs exuding a cool Miami vibe. Enjoy items like Champagne Pancakes or savory buttermilk fried chicken & waffles. Playful cocktail names include the Naughty Chambermaid and Flamingo Brunch Paloma.

Breezy Corners

For the ultimate diner breakfast, experience the from-scratch approach to fresh, quality ingredients at Breezy's. With generous portions of classic breakfast items and a great kids' menu, this family-run operation has locations in Freelton (close to Christie Lake and Valens Conservation Areas) and the east end near Gage Park.
